My wife introduced me to her world in Ecuador.
Who and what is Andenhaus?
In the Andenhaus, there are two people: Gerald (38) and Johanna (42).
I’ve been working in a bank’s back office for over 16 years, and when I met my wife Johanna, she introduced me to her world in Ecuador – a world full of colors and species diversity. A paradise with volcanoes and stunning landscapes.
But when it comes to clothing, it’s the attention to detail and quality that instantly captivates. In Ecuador, particularly in the Andean regions, you’ll find the native alpaca.
When I immersed myself in this world, I immediately fell in love with the country and would highly recommend it to anyone who’s also interested in jungle adventures..
The largest indigenous market in Otavalo
In Ecuador, there is also the largest indigenous market in Latin America for alpaca vests, ponchos, scarves and more. In Otavalo, a great spectacle takes place every Wednesday and Saturday.
But it’s not just alpaca vests that can be found there. Their culture is also reflected in vibrant and intricately designed tablecloths. This immediately catches the eye, as all of these products are a testament to high quality standards.

"Alpacas are peaceful animals and are not afraid of humans. They are primarily bred for their wool. The yarn is very fine and can be easily worked with."
Gerald Botros
High quality and vibrant designs.
The fascination in Otavalo, the vibrant designs of the vests and ponchos, then led us to bring this market to Europe and to offer people here access and the opportunity to also be part of these high-quality garments.
